Euro-VO Registry is a project funded by the European Space Agency (ESA), aiming at the development and operation of a Virtual Observatory (VO) Registry in Europe.
Virtual Observatory is a collection of distributed databases and software tools that form a scientific research environment utilizing the Internet, in order to conduct astronomical research projects. Its main goal is to allow transparent access to distributed data worldwide for scientists and researchers, in a user-friendly manner.
The vast amount of data and the absence of a main registry is such that makes the implementation of EURO-VO Registry imperative. The research project, developed and operating at the European Space Astronomy Centre (ESAC), is a complete search registry, available Europe-wide, with information from all the compatible European Virtual Observatories (European VO).
The contribution and role of NEUROPUBLIC in this project is dual. On the one hand, it supports the smooth operation of the existing EURO-VO Registry, something that entails its responsibility for the monitoring of the operation and maintenance system, the support of users that insert or search data, as well as the support and management of interfaces with other Virtual Observatories worldwide. On the other hand, within the framework of the project, NEUROPUBLIC will develop a newer version of EURO-VO Registry that will meet the new standards of the International Virtual Observatory Alliance (IVOA), and ensure its smooth operation.
