The European initiative Future of Public-Private-Partnership (FI-PPP) aimed at accelerating the development and adoption of FI technologies in Europe.

In short

The project XIFI – eXperimental Infrastructures for the Future Internet focused on the initiative part of the Future Internet (FI) initiative, and NEUROPUBLIC was a strong partner in the South East European project.

The Future of the Internet (FI) sector brings together a number of research and industrial activities aimed at contributing to the evolution of current Internet technologies and to developing innovation in different business sectors through the exploitation of such advanced technologies.

The Future Internet Public-Private-Partnership (FI-PPP) initiative was launched by the European Commission in 2011 and aims to accelerate the development and adoption of FI technologies in Europe, providing a common platform that supports large-scale testing, applies to different business areas and leverages a wide range of FI infrastructures.

Highlights

The XIFI project (eXperimental Infrastructure for the Future Internet) focused on the FI-PPP initiative specifically targeting FI infrastructure, aspiring to pave the way for a unified European market for FI – PPP services and FI facilities enabling FI their wide exploitation.

The creation of a viable federation of FI infrastructures offering FI-PPP services is an important milestone as it transcends the current fragmentation of European FI infrastructures and platforms into isolated test environments that are not individually capable of supporting large-scale testing. At the same time, it paves the way for the widespread and reproducible use of FI – PPP services and applications.

XIFI focused on the FI-PPP initiative specifically targeting FI infrastructures, aspiring to pave the way for a unified European market for FI-PPP services and FI facilities, enabling their widespread exploitation.

As part of the XIFI project, NEUROPUBLIC integrated its Data Center (NP DC) into all of XIFI’s infrastructure. NP DC is a very modern and technologically advanced Data Center created in March 2013 and supports the XIFI offering in the Southeast European region, an area not sufficiently covered by XIFI nodes to date.

NEUROPUBLIC has been a strong partner of XIFI in Southeastern Europe, as it has extensive and specialized technical knowledge, high quality technological background, high technology facilities, huge user subscriptions and strong business partnerships in the region.
