Between 29 and 30 of May 2019, a Symposium titled “Mathematics in the era of the 4th Industrial Revolution” was held at the National Hellenic Research Foundation, in the context of the scientific activities of the Interdisciplinary Program of Postgraduate Studies “Mathematical Modeling in Contemporary Technologies and Finance” and the “Financial Engineering and Mathematical Optimization” Laboratory.

The aim of the Symposium was to bring together scientists active in the academic field, business and the market in Greece and abroad, in the three directions: State of the art technologies, Data Science Mathematics and Economics / Finance. Through the symposium, the participants had the opportunity to get acquainted with modern applications of mathematics in various fields of Science, Technology, and Economics, as well as international trends from related scientific/ academic and professional view.

In the context of the 7th Thematic Session “Data Science & Mathematics”, NEUROPUBLIC’s Earth Observation & Data Science Chief Engineer Dr. Dimitris Sykas made a presentation titled “gaiasense – Smart Farming Services and integration of the terrestrial measurements network with satellite data“.

The presentation focused on the way that remote sensing technologies and data are being exploited by the smart farming services of the gaiasense system,

The presentation was well-accepted by the audience, which consisted mostly of researchers, technology providers and data scientists, as it described a commercially available solution based on Earth Observation and the exploitation of big data as well as the deployment of scientific models.
