NEUROPUBLIC participated in the EIP-AGRI Seminar titled “Digital Innovation Hubs: mainstreaming digital agriculture”, which took place between the 1st and 2nd of June 2017 in Kilkenny, Ireland.

More than 150 participants from various EU countries attended the seminar, representing SMEs, public sector organizations, regional authorities, agricultural research centers, EU-funded projects and policy makers, among others. The aim of the seminar was the presentation of the Digital Innovation Hub (DIH) concept and in its context discussions about the roles that such a Hub can serve, the identification of existing related initiatives in Europe, the identification of potential barriers that may hinder the development of DIHs, and the definition of the main priority steps to develop DIHs in agriculture at an EU level. The European Commissioner for Agriculture and Rural Development, Mr. Phil Hogan, made an introductory speech about the Seminar. Dr. Vassilis Protonotarios, Outreach & Networking Manager, represented NEUROPUBLIC.

During the interactive seminar, NEUROPUBLIC had the opportunity to present its views on the DIHs and discuss the role of bodies like GAIA EPICHEREIN as innovation brokers in such a scheme. At the same time, NEUROPUBLIC participated in the working group that worked on the definition of the necessary first steps for the establishment of a DIH, and the provision of added value services by the hub.

The outcomes of the seminar will be used for the definition of the framework in which the first Digital Innovation Hubs will be designed and implemented through the corresponding action of EU, which will also provide the funding means for this purpose.
