NEUROPUBLIC joins the EIT Food Innowise Scale program as a solution provider

News ◦ 11—08—2021

NEUROPUBLIC has joined the EIT Food Innowise Scale program, as a solution provider to tackle problems around water scarcity in the agricultural sector.

The program is a joint effort by EIT Climate-KIC, EIT Digital, EIT Food, EIT Manufacturing, “Athena” Research and Innovation Center and Bioazul, supported by the European Commission, and aims at supporting problem holders and connect them with innovative solutions that reduce and optimize water use.

In the context of the program, NEUROPUBLIC is working with SanLucar, a a global fruit and vegetable company based in Spain, in order to find the optimal solution for the irrigation of their apricot orchards, in an area where each drop of water counts. Sanlucar has 3,200 employees from more than 30 countries, and acquires more than 600,000 kilos of fresh fruit and vegetables from 35 growing countries worldwide on a daily basis.

The solution proposed by NEUROPUBLIC will be based on its innovative gaiasense smart farming system, which has already been successfully used in the case of stone fruits and contributes to the optimization of the irrigation water used in various crops and locations.

About the Innowise Scale Program

The Innowise Scale Program supports scaleups and SMEs working on innovative products or services enabling a better water management, optimising water supply and demand, and fostering climate change readiness of the European economy.

The InnoWise Scale activities are held on 3 case studies on water management in the agricultural, infrastructure and utilities sector, gathering up to 20 scaleups and SMEs and 3 potential end users. Support is given in the form of mentoring, training, and networking opportunities for the implementation of demos, to accelerate the market uptake of these green solutions in Europe.

This project contributes to three of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs):

6. Clean Water and Sanitation

11. Sustainable Cities and Communities

13. Climate Action
