SmartOliveGrove

The aim of the SmartOliveGrove project is the improvement of olive cultivation in Aetolia-Acarnania, which is the major producer of Kalamata type olives, reaching up to 50% of the total production.

In short

The aim of the project is to improve olive cultivation in Aetolia-Acarnania, which is the top region of the country as far as Kalamata olives production is concerned (50% of the total production).

This will be achieved through the creation of a Smart Agriculture system that will assist in the improvement of water and plant-protection products use, reducing the production cost and improving the quality and competitiveness of the region’s olive products at a national and international level.

The implementation of the proposed holistic methodology of smart agriculture and of the services that will come to being from this project will help in reducing the production cost – through the reduction of inputs – and in improving the produced goods – through better disease treatment and reducing the persistence of plant-protection products.

This will result in the improvement of the viability and competitiveness of the enterprises that are active in this sector, by providing them with a competitive advantage at an international level.

NEUROPUBLIC is the coordinating agency of the project, in which the University of Patras’ Laboratory of Plant Production, ο the Agricultural Cooperative of Messologhi – Nafpaktias “The Union” and the Agricultural Cooperative of Kenourgio also take part.

The project is carried out within the framework of the “Aiding Enterprises for research projects” Action and is co-funded by the European Union and national resources through the “WESTERN GREECE 2014-2020 Operational Programme (Ε.Π. ΔΥΤΙΚΗ ΕΛΛΑΔΑ 2014-2020, project code: ΔΕΡ6-0021056)”.
